As 2021 has made it’s debut, I know many of you have already been working on S.M.A.R.T. goals, resolutions, new habits and more, that you want to EXECUTE in 2021. Whether that be in your finances, relationships, careers, spirituality or health. Some of you may have even did your vision boards already mapping out what 2021 will be like in all these areas and that is fantastic! Great job, Momma! “Write the vision down and make it plain.” Matthew talks all about speaking (oh the power of the tongue!) our hopes and desires out to the Lord in prayer and they shall be.
And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.
Matthew 21:22
Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Matthew 7:7
My challenge to you on this 2nd day of January in this new year of hope in 2021, is to come up with PARENTING GOALS too! How will you be a better parent this year? What are some things you want to improve on with your relationship with your children in 2021? What experiences do you want to share with them? Making S.M.A.R.T. Goals for some if not all of these will help hold you accountable as a parent, and boy don’t we all need that!
Remember or Hello!…S.M.A.R.T means:

This momma here has many PARENTING GOALS that I am aiming for this year and want to share a few with you that may inspire you as you dig deep and develop your own PARENTING GOALS for 2021!
- 💜🥰Love Language: I want to be more intentional about loving my sons the way they need and desire to be loved, and not the way I want to love them or how I felt I should have been loved as a child.
- I am planning on doing the love language assessment with my husband with Duce and Elisha in mind, even asking Duce some of the questions for his thoughts and input do discover their love languages.
- Holding myself accountable by doing nightly checks in with myself asking, How did I love Duce/Elisha the way they needed to be loved today? What can I continue to work on for tomorrow? Get your spouses involved as well for accountability!
- 📚Education: I want to be more intentional with my lesson planning and execution of lessons with my son this year.
- Which means that I want to plan by quarter with S.M.A.R.T. goals for him and me that we can meet and be able to measure success
- I want our learning time to continue to be fun, creative and out of the box!
- 👩🏾🦱💙🤴🏽🤴🏽Conscious Parenting: This was a new journey for me in 2020, and I am so glad to be continuing it in 2021 with my boys. It hasn’t been perfect, but I am proud of how I am dealing with my own shortcomings and triggers to help me better foster a relationship with my boys that doesn’t include spanking, yelling, empty threats, or chastising them to do what I want them to do. Rather adjusting my emotions and parenting so my children can thrive emotionally in a world that already threatens their safety, esteem and purpose.
- I know I can do this with lots of practice and intentionality, but most importantly with God’s Grace! In 2020, I found myself praying more when I felt triggered or short tempered and that helped me be proactive and not reactive, having to apologize to my boys for how I responded.
- Trust in the Lord, and he will comfort your spirit and give you the grace and patience you need to be the momma He designed you to be.
- Keep Self-Care at the front of your mind and daily actions, so that you don’t get burnt out or short tempered with your innocent, growing and exploring little ones.

Those are just a few for me, and I hope they get you started on your own! As always, ACCOUNTABILITY is necessary! Whether that be your significant other or a fellow mommy friend, get you some parenting accountability this year and be intentional about being better, brighter and brilliant for your children in whatever way they need you to be!
