I bought this book to give to my 18 mo old nephew, who sometimes enjoys brushing his teeth, but mostly likes to fight it! Little did I know, he would love this book more than all of his others and *insist* that my brother reads it to him every night! Can’t wait to buy more from D.M. Whitaker!

Getting your child to love brushing their teeth can be a bit difficult. You have to start early by making it an enjoyable every day routine. Singing makes everything fun in my opinion! This book, inspired by the author’s son, who must be a musical virtuoso, introduces this otherwise mundane task as something whimsical and fun. As I read the words to the song they sing about brushing your teeth, I found myself wondering what tune I would sing. To my surprise and delight, the lyrics and music are written at the end of the book in B Major and C Major! I’m glad…I think I would’ve butchered the song. The illustrations beautifully show this young black family establishing a family routine that I’m sure their son will continue as he grows into adulthood and raise his own healthy children. What a wonderful debut by the author! It is sure to be your child’s favorite new book to read at bedtime before they brush their teeth and go to bed.

This book is a favorite of our family. Brushing your teeth isn’t a fun thing to do, but it’s a must in our household. This book and song is a game changer! My little one loves brushing her teeth and I find my wife singing the song when she’s brushing her teeth and my daughter isn’t around, lol Great buy.

We started reading the book downstairs in the living room. As soon as we made it to the second page, she took off running to her bathroom…which is upstairs lol. So I read the book while she brushed her teeth and she loved it. And I just found the actual recording on the website and she sounds much better lol. So next time I might play the song. Super cute though and I love the illustrations.

A MUST HAVE for your children’s library of books! We loved this book for our little one! The colors were very eye catching and the story was easy to follow. We only have one child and my wife sometimes worries about her ability to make friends, but this book will definitely help us teach her about making and keeping friends.
